A Study On The Application Value Of The Osteoporosis Self-assessment Tool For Asian (OSTA)

Objective To evaluate the application value of OSTA in Chinese peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women. To explore a new assessment tool for Chinese peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women under 65 years old which expected to have a higher accuracy than OSTA.Methods According to the equation and original cutpoints that developed by L. K. H. Koh and other researchers, each object was calculated a score of OSTA and classified into three groups(the normal, the osteopenia and the osteoporosis ). A series of screening indexes, such as sensitivity, specificity, kappa value, were employed to compare and analyze the diagnosis results of DXA and OSTA. Bayes discriminant analysis was adopted to find a new assessment equation. The screening indexes and ROC curve were used to evaluate the effect of the new equation.Results In terms of Chinese peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women, the difference of the diagnosis results between DXA and OSTA was obvious. According to the screening indexes and the demand of clinical practice, the new cutpoints of OSTA were brought up.
