Objective: To study the protective effects of eleuthersides application on RN8 acupoint in sleep deprivation persons on psychology, physiological strength and biochemistry.Methods: Young healthy volunteers (males,19-22 years old) were randomly allocated into four groups: normal control group(NC),sleep deprivation group(SD),treated control group(TC) and placebo control group(PC). Those in SD,TC and PC group underwent sleep deprivation for 48 hours while NC in routine. Eleuthersides was applied to RNg acupoint of TC group volunteers and placebo on that of PC group. The psychological questionnaire of Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and Self-Rating AnxietyScale(SAS) and the questionnaire of fatigue evaluation were evaluated,at the same time the biochemistry (including cortisol and testrone) and physical strength(including grip and back force)were detected to observe the influence of SD and the protective effects of eleuthersides acupoint application.Results: After 48h SD, the mean increase of COR score of TC (44. 482 ±96. 065 nmol/L) was lower than that of BC (146. 809 ± 71. 075 nmol/L), the mean increase of SDS score of TC(2.833 ± 16.746)was lower than that of BC(20.417 ± 10.358), the mean increase of the questionnaire of fatigue evaluation score of TC (14.33 ±...
