Objective: To bring forward the advantage of isotope bone scanning in early diagnosis of acute osteomyelitis (AO) in children through a contrast between various diagnostic ways. Methods: Collect 61 in-hospital cases (64 parts) of AO in recent 6 years. Isotope bone scanning was carried out in 12 early cases which had no significant changes through X-ray or B-ultrasound. 7 out of 12 cases were carried out drainage or pressure-release surgery when positive results came out. 2 more weeks anti-inflammation therapy was given after surgery. Some cases were followed up to more than one year. Sort through the time when the positive results take place, contrast with other diagnostic ways. Results were statistically analysed. Results: On the time when will the positive results take place, the bone scanning is earlier than X-ray and B-ultrasound. The early diagnosed and treated patients have low risk of serious complications and sequelae of malformation. Conclusion: The isotope bone scanning is more sensitive than X-ray and B-ultrasound in early diagnosis of AO in children. Earlier diagnosis...
