Objective: To study the clinical value of renal angiography and pre-operative renal artery embolization on advanced renal cancer. Methods: 36 patients with advanced renal cancer were verified by clinical surgery, IVP, US, CT or MRI were done, A 5F Yashiro catheter was introduced into the femoral artery with seldinger's technique under local anesthesia, abdominal aortagraphy and renal arteriography in both sides of kidneys were performed in routine to show the feeding arteries of tumor and its hemodynamics, thereafter, renal embolization was done under superselective catherization (embolization group). The clinical effect was observed, the amount of blood loss and the operation time were calculated, all these results were compared to that of 17 patients (random samples as control group) with advanced renal cancer without pre-operative embolization in our hospital for a period of 3 years. Results: Angiography showed enlargement of feeding arteries in renal rumor with disorder and displacement of the branches. Irregular twist new-born vessels were seen, some of which is reticular and encircled, The tumor stain were seen, in a few cases, mottling blood reservoir and little A-V fistula were seen, the cancer embolus were seen in renal veins and the inferior vena cava in the venous and parenchyma phase, in the embolization group, the amount of blood loss during operation is 0-600ml(average 310ml) and the operation time is 60-150 min (average 90 min ), while in the control group the amount of blood loss 0-1600ml (average 480ml) and the operation time 80-195min (average 120minl), The amount of blood loss and the operation time in the embolization group are markedly less than that in the...
