Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH, or preeclampsia) is a common complication of pregnancy, and it remains a major cause of maternal and fetal/neonatal morbidity and mortality in the world, complicating up to 5%-10% of all pregnancy. Despite intensive research, the underlying pathogenic mechanisms are not well understood. Researchers could learn the development process and pathogenesis of PIH from animal models that are designed to mimic those of human patients. The induction of PIH in animals could help understand the etiological factors and establish the clinical signs, and it is also helpful to find a new therapy medicine. Animal models of PIH could also be used to study the effects of PIH on fetus/offspring development and offer experimental evidences for early intervention. In recent years, the important role of environmental factors in the disease process has received great attention from scientists and physicians. To better understand the ways in which the environmental factors affect PIH, researchers have tried to produce experimental hypertension in animals by exposing them to different experimental paradigms. It is extensively accepted that hypertension is related with high salt intake, and the fact that the cold winter has higher incidence of PIH indicates cold-stress may be one of the etiological factors. We try to conduct KUNMING mice with NaCl feeding and cold-stress exposure to establish the mice models of PIH, and observe the effects of PIH on fetus/offspring development. To determine the optimum concentration of NaCl solution, four groups of female mice were respectively fed for 14weeks to drink water, 1%, 1.5%, 2%NaCl solution, then blood pressure were measured by carotid intubatton. Two groups of...
