Investigation And Analysis Of The Mortality Of Injury On Inhabitants Of Nanzhao County Of Henan Province

Background: Injury has been becoming an important public health problem that threatens the health and life of human beings. Recently the mortalities of the injury in China always were very high, and some injuries, for example road traffic injuries, are rising at a fast rate. The total losing and the social expense of injury is more than that of chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) etc.Objective: To understand the situation of the mortality of injury of inhabitants, the risk degree of injury to health of inhabitants and the life lost due to injury in Nanzhao County of Henan Province. To provide important clue of science for exploring developing laws of injury, theoretic basis for strategies, measures of prevention, control and corresponding health policies to injury.Methods: To hold death investigation in inhabitants of Nanzhao County of Henan Province from 1997 to 1999. Firstly, according to it's geographic and economic conditions, eight small towns were extracted by way of cluster sampling and stratified sampling; then, some villages were extracted out from these eight small towns at random, the population of these small villages was added by part of population of inhabitants in county up to number of the whole samples; finally, retrospective three-year causes of death was registered and investigated among the resident population of these villages, the three-year population conditions were recorded simultaneously.
