Objective:To observe the therapeutical effect of a complex prescription of TCM Tangxinkang on DM model rats and discuss the mechanism of action in the treatment of DM, then provide experimental data for clinical practice. Methods:The model rats male Wistar were established with multiple injections of low dose STZ and high calorie diet. Kinds of examination methods were applied, including biochemistry, light microscope, electron microscrope, radiommunoassay , and immunohistochemical technique to observe the effect of Tangxinkang on indicators such as blood sugar, insulin, glucagons, somatostatin and patho-morphous of pancreas. Results:1. The models of diabetic rats have been cloned successfully.2. Tangxinkang could lower fasting blood sugar and glucagons and elevate insulin significantly.3. Pathological examination of pancreas showed that Tangxinkang could lessen the damage of STZ to the pancreas and recover the function of islet B-cell in a certain degree. By the immunohistochemical examination of pancreas, Tangxinkang could relieve the accrementition of D cells in pancreatic island of DM rats and decrease the secretion of SS.Conclusions:The results above display that Tangxinkang can repair the structure of islet cell and retrieve functional disorder of cell secretion. Tangxinkang can prevent and treat diabetes and relatedcomplication through multiple pathways, and direct our clinical practice.
