Esophageal carcinoma (EC) is one of the most common malignant diseases in the world, as well as with the poor prognosis. The incidence of disease is higher in China than the average level of the world. The death rate is 23.5%, is lower than gastric cancer. With the development of medical technology, surgical therapy made a great progress in improving the survival rate. But some domestic doctor report that most patients came to hospital already in advanced stage, so the prognosis is poorer compared to other gastroenteric tumor. One of the high mortality of esophageal cancer is the absence of early diagnosis and prognosis evaluating. So far, the conventional traditional prognostic markers, such as cancer stage based on metastasis and pathological grade are still used to evaluate the prognosis of esophageal cancer patients. But, it has been well recognized that there is discordance between the conventional prognosis biomarkers and the actual prognosis. For example the patients with the same stage, the same pathologic scheme and the same therapy have the different prognosis. There are the more accurate system of stage in it. The basic change is in the molecular biology. Apparently, it would be much desirable to determine the key molecular events involved in cancer...
