| Objective: To observe the protective effect of modified and wild type acidic fibroblast growth factor(aFGF) after rat optic nerve crush, and study the degree of it's nerve protective effect bank on mitosis activity.Methods: Forty-two Wistar rats were divided into 7 groups at random: normal sailing treating group, aFGF0.25μg/ml,1.0μg/ml,4.0μg/ml groups,MaFGF0.25μg/ml,1.0μg/ml,4.0μg/ml groups. The rats optic nerve were crushed by using special nip. The left eye look as normal control group. After crushed the optic nerve 1 hour, recorded the rat's both eyes flash visual evoked potentials(F-VEP). And each group sailing 0.1ml were injected into the retrobulbar of right eye after crush and the third﹑the fifth﹑the seventh and the ninth day. After crush 4 weeks recorded F-VEP of both eye again. After anaesthetize the rats , take out their eye balls and a portion of optic nerve, and observe it's retina and optic nerve with microscope. Depict the appearance of retina and optic nerve, count retinal ganglion cells(RGCs).Results:①After acute injure of optic nerve the latent periods of N1﹑P1﹑N2 in F-VEP prolonged, and wave amplitudes of N1-P1﹑P1-N2 were lowering. Their differences were significant(P<0.01).②After treating 4 weeks with MaFGF and FGF each groups and acute injure: their differences ofΔN2﹑ΔP1 between each groups of MaFGF and after acute injure were significant (P<0.05); their differences betweenΔN14.0μg/ml﹑ΔN1-P11.0μg/ml﹑ΔP1-N20.25μg/ml in MaFGF and after acute injure were not significant (P>0.05); their differences ofΔN1﹑ΔN2﹑ΔP1-N2 between each groups of aFGF and after acute injure were significant (P<0.05); their differences betweenΔP14.0μg/ml﹑ΔN1-P11.0μg/ml in aFGF and after acute injure were not significant (P>0.05);there were not significant difference among each group of MaFGF and aFGF(P>0.05).③After...
