Objective: To observe the characters of hypertension with adrenal hyperplasis. Methods: 533 hypertensives all took the CT examination in adrenal. Based on the CT result, the patients were divided into hypertension with adrenal hyperplasis (n=58) and without adrenal hyperplasis (n=65). Results: (1) There were 58 hypertensives with adrenal hyperplasis in 533 patients including 44 in left adrenal (75.86%) and 14 in both adrenal (24.14%). We didn't find the patients with right adrenal hyperplasis. (2) The level of blood potassium in hypertension with adrenal hyperplasis was significantly lower than in controls (P<0.05). (3) No significant differences were found between two groups in terms of plasma renin activity, angiotensin â…¡, aldosterone, blood sodium, 24 hours urine potassium and urine sodium, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. But the level of plasma renin activity, aldosterone, systolic and diastolic blood pressure was higher than in controls. Conclusion: It is suggested that hypertension with mostly occurred in left adrenal. Proliferated adrenal may produce autonomic excretion function and take part in the regulation of blood pressure.
