Purpose: Honokiol is a bioactive compound extracted from Magnolia, a plant widely used in traditional Chinese and Japanese herbs .It is known to possess potential anti-neoplastic and anti-angiogenic properties. DDP is a classic first line anti-tumor drug, though directly breaking DNA synthesis .In this investigation, we have implemented a treatment regimen of combining liposome encoding Honokiol and conventional chemotherapeutic drug Cisplatin to treat human A549 lung cancer in nude mice in order to explore the possibility of combined-therapeutic strategy for cancer. Materials and Methods: In this experiment, A549 lung cancer model was established in 6-8 weeks nude mice and then treated with either soluble liposome(i.p. every day for three weeks) ,liposome mediated Honokiol (5mg/kg or 25mg/kg i.p. every day for three weeks), Cisplatin (4mg/Kg, i.p. twice a week for two weeks), 25mg/kg liposome mediated Honokiol with...
