Objective: To observe the change of Vimentin expression in Muller cells on rabbit retinal blunt trauma and after bFGF treatment, to investigate the action and its mechanism of exogenous basic fibroblast growth factor ( bFGF) injected into the vitreous cavity on retinal blunt trauma, and provide theoretical basis to the therapeutical use of bFGF on retinal blunt trauma.Method: 40 rabbits were divided into normal group, trauma group ,bFGFtreatment group and Nacl control group randomly. Every group was further divided into 3h,ld,3d,7d,and 14d subgroups. The model of rabbit retinal blunt trauma was successfully established by 3J energy contusion caused by a free falling iron bar hiting the cornea. bFGF2 μ g(10 μ 1) was intravitreously injected in bFGF group and Nacl10μ 1 was used in the Nacl control group after a time of 3-days of retinal blunt trauma. The changes of funds were examined, rabbits were sacrificed and eyeballs were extracted to preparate pathology slice up at designed time points. The morphologic changes of the retina were observed by light microscopes and immunohistochemical method was applied to observing the changes of Vimentin staining combined with histology method. The immunostaining results were measured quantitatively with computer imaging analysis system and analyzed statistically by SPSS12.0.
