Objectives To evaluate the effect of intervention designed to decrease HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in the health care services, and explore an effective model of decreasing HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in the health care services. Methods Pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design was used. The data needed was collected in quantitative and qualitative methods. Conclusions HIV/AIDS knowledge of the health services providers in the control group was increased, but experimental groups' was increased about two times. The knowledge and skills of HIV/AIDS occupational exposure and standard precaution of control group was strengthened, but experimental groups' three to five times. The discrimination behaviors of control group had some increase, and experimental groups' were significantly decreased. HIV/AIDS knowledge and standard precaution skills of some health providers still need be strengthened. That is a long way that health providers can realize deep rights of HIV-positive and PLHASs.Suggestions Implement the intervention of decreasing HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in the health care services. The intervention model of decreasing HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination should be based on health providers' needs, and then scaled up. Conduct long term interventions to strengthen health providers' awareness of rights. Set up a local comprehensive HIV/AIDS occupational post-exposure emergency network.
