Introduction: Helicobacter pylori (Hp), which is closely linked to gastric cancerand mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), is recognized as pathogen of chronic active gastritis and peptic ulcer (PU). After abstraction of Hp from the dental plaque of gastritis patients by Kragden for the first time, Majmudar discovered that Hp stain exist in the dental plaque of 40 healthy volunteers and with the same modality, biochemical and immunological characteristic as the Hp stain in stomach, using germiculture and rapid urease test(RUT) in 1989. Hp can be detected in human dental plaque, salvia and denture. Though Hp can not be detected in the gastric mucosa after anti-Hp treatment, it still exists in the oral cavity, and this indicates the Hp in oral cavity may be a significant repository which contributes to the recurrence of gastric infection. The low oxidation-reduction potential in periodontal pocket which is helpful to facultative anaerobe growth, fermentation and acid production in the dental plaque, descent of pH, the ecological characteristic of plaque, and the condign temperature(34-37℃) which is good for the autoeciousness of Hp in oral...
