| Objective:To observe the protective effect of Tangshenping and Benazepril on Diabetic Nephropathy rats, and to study their possible mechanisms. Methods: Sixty adult male Wistar rats were divided randomly into four groups:normal contral group, diabetic untreated group, diabetic group treated orally with Benazepril, diabetic group treated orally with Tangshenping and Benazepril. Rats were made diabetic by single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) diluted .At end of 6 week, the rats of each group were acrificed. Plasma glucose, urinary albumin excretion rat(UAER),creatinin clearance(Ccr),C-reactive protein(CRP), growth factor-betal(TGF-β1)were determined. The average volume of glomeruler was assessed by optical microscope. The level of TGF-β1, FN in the cortex of rats were also observed through the techniques of immuhistochemistry. Results:Plasma glucose, urinary UAER, plasma Ccr, CRP, TGF-β1 and renal tissue TGF-β1,FN, average volume of glomeruler were significantly greater than that of normal contral rats. In the diabetic treated rats, Plasma glucose, urinary UAER, Ccr, CRP, plasma TGF-β1and renal tissue TGF-β1, FN,average volume of glomerule decreased obviously as compared with diabetic untreated rats. These effects were enhanced when Benazepril was combined with Tangshenping. Plasma glucose in the diabetic treated rats remained same level as compared with diabetic untreated rats.Conclusion:(1): At end of 6 week, there was marked injury of renal structure and function in STZ-induced diabetic rats.(2): Tangshenping and Benazepril had not valid effect on the high glucose in STZ-induced diabetic rats.(3): CRP,TGF-β1 which produced in body may be important factors in the pathogeneses of diabetic nephropathy.(4): Benazepril could reduce the amount of renal TGF-β1 and reverse the injury of renal structure and function in diabetic rats.
