Changes Of The Expression Of P53, P16, COX-2, Ki-67 In Barrett's Esophagus Before And After Treatment

Aims: To investigate the effect of different treatment on Barrett's esophagus (BE) and to explore the mechanism of therapeutic regimens by detecting the expression of P53, P16, Cox-2, Ki-67 in the Barrett's epithelium before and after treatment. Five kinds of therapeutic regimen were adopted to treat patients with Barrett's esophagus in order to select the most effective one.Methods: 90 patients with Barrett's esophagus were diagnosed by endoscopy and biopsy. All patients were randomly divided into five groups: group A (control group); group B (Omeprazole 20mg, bid, po); group C (Hydrotalcite 1000mg, tid, po); group D (Omeprazole 20mg, bid, po and Hydrotalcite 1000mg, tid, po); group E (Omeprazole 20mg, bid, po and Hydrotalcite 1000mg, tid, po after argon plasma coagulation). All patients were treated for three months. Specimens of esophageal tissue were collected and clinical effect was observed by endoscopy before and 1-month,3-month after treatment. Expression of P53, P16, Cox-2, Ki-67 in Barrett esophagus were investigated by immunohistochemistry and the differences among groups were analyzed.Results: After treating,the symptoms of patients in 4 treatment groups were significantly less than group A(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in relieving clinical symptom in group B, C,D and E(P>0.05). The sizes of Barrett's esophagus didn't change significantly in group B, C, and D by endoscopy. Barrett's esophagus was eliminated in 91.0% patients of group E.There were significant differences in expression of P53, Cox-2, Ki-67 in group B and group D compare to group A(P<0.05).
