Objective: Comparing the sonography with the images of MRI, we discuss the value of sonography to reveal the normal structure and arthropathy of the knee joint and summarize the characteristics of sonogram to evaluate its diagnostic values. Methods: 42 patients with knee joint arthropathy.were examined by US and MRI. Among these patients, 35 cases were diagnosed by operation or arthroendoscopy., conservative therapy were used in 7 cases. At the same time, we choose 36 healthy people of different sex and ages, 72 knee joints to have the ultrasonography. We use high frequency color Doppler, the frenquency of the probe is 5-13 MHz. All MRI images were performed by a 1.5 Tesla magnet (Sonata SIMENS, Germany) or 0.3 Tesla magnet (HITACHI, Japan) Results:Comparing the sonogram and the MRI images: (1) The sonography can indicate the site, range of the arthropathy of the knee joints. It has obvious characteristics comparing with the normal sonogram. (2)Twenty-six cases of hydrarthrosis were displayed in the sonography, the consistency with MRI is 96.3%. (3) The display of abnormity synovial membrane is more sensitive in sonography than in MRI. (4)The changes in sonogram of the focus of the injured meniscus can be low echo, strong echo or localized inhomogenous echo. The diagnostic consistency is 75.2% to 87%. (5) The ultrasound is sensitive in display the intramuscular hematoma and rupture of tendons. It is consistent with MRI. (6) In the test group, the collateral ligaments and the cruciate ligaments can be partially displayed. It can reminddamages...
