OBJECTIVETo study the macrophage migration inhibitory factor mRNA and protein in the eutopic endometrium and in the ectopic endometrium of women with endometriosis. To investigate the role of macrophage migration inhibitory factor on the pathogenesis of endometriosis. METHODThe expression of MIF mRNA and macrophage migration inhibitory factor protein in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium were detected by QT-PCR and immunohistochemical assay. Forty patients with endometriosis were selected as study group, fifteen patients without endometriosis were selected as control group. Patients were grouped by Revised American Fertility Society (rAFS) stages, 7 patients at I and II stages, 22 at III stage, 11 at IV stage. In the study group, 2 red peritoneal endometrionic lesion were taken from 2 patients with peritoneal endometriosis; 38 ectopic endometrium lesion and 16 eutopic endometrium lesion were taken from 38 patients with ovarian endometriosis, and 33 at proliferative stage and 7 at secretory stage; In the control group, 15 specimens of endometrium, 8 at proliferative stage and 7 at secretory stage were biopsied from 15 patients without endometriosis. 5 infertility patients in the study group. RESULTS1 The expressions of MIF mRNA and protein in the eutopic and ectopic...
