| ObjectiveTo investigate the role of leflunomide in the treatment of PHN and elucidate the mechanisms by which leflunomide ameliorating renal injury, thus developing novel therapeutic option for the treatment of membranous nephropathy in clinic practice.MethodsThe rat PHN model was induced by injection of anti-FX1A serum through tail vein. Twenty four 24 hours urine protein, nephrin mRNA expression and glomerular lesions were observed by BCA, RT-PCR and under light and electronic microscope, respectively. ResultsThe rat PHN model was established successfully. Leflunomide reduced urine protein, glomerular lesions of rat with PHN, and increased nephrin mRNA expression in rat kidney. ConclusionsLeflunomide possesses therapeutic effect against PHN, possibly by increasing nephrin mRNA expression and decreasing immune complex deposits. |
