Bnip3L (Bcl-2/E1B 19kDa-interacting protein 3-like) gene is a tumor suppressor gene cloned from a human fetal liver cDNA library,which is located at 8p21,one of the high frequent regions of heterozygosity (LOH) in lung carcinoma. Bnip3L belongs to BH3-only apoptosis-inducing factor of Bcl-2 family,which can interact with antiapoptotic proteins,such as Bcl-2, Bcl-x_l, E1B19K and promote apoptosis.Recently researchs indicate that Bnip3L can effect p53 to suppress tumor growth under low-oxygen conditions .
