Diabetic complications such as osteoporosis have become one of major causes of death, disability and increment of medicare. So, it is important to explore the pathogenesis of diabetic osteoporosis. Recently, novel members of Tumor Necrosis Factor family such as osteoprotegerin(OPG), osteoprotegerin ligand (OPGL), and tumor necrosis factor related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL), macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF), transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), etc. are reported being involved in regulation of osteoclast' s formation and differentiation. However their roles in diabetic osteoporosis are not clear.
