Objective: The aim of this study was to estimate the expression of FHIT and ki67 and to analyze their clinical significance in gastric cancer to detect the pathogenesis ,progression and prognosis of gastric cancer. Methods: This experiment utilized S-P immunohistochemical technique to detect the expression of FHIT and ki67 in 50 cases of gastric cancer, and the correlation between their expression and the clinical staging, grade and metastasis in patients with gastric cancer was studied. Analyses were performed on SPSS 10.0.Results:1.The positive expression rate of FHIT gene was 46% and 28% in tissues of early stage gastric cancer ,advanced stage gastric cancer ,and was 47 % and 27% in tissues of high histologic grade of gastric cancer and low histologic grade of gastric cancer ,and was 50 % and 20% in tissues of positive node metastasis gastric cancer and negative node metastasis gastric cancer . There was all significant difference among the three experimental groups(P<0.05).2. The positive expression rate of ki67 gene was 72% and 82% in tissues of early stage gastric cancer ,advanced stag e gastric cancer ,and was 54 % and 89 % in tissues of high histologic grade of gastric cancer and low histologic grade of gastric cancer , and was 75 % and 83% in tissues of positive node metastasis gastric cancer and negative node metastasis gastric cancer . There was all significant difference among the three experimental groups (P<0.05).3. The reduction of FHIT gene expression might be positive related with the positive expression of ki67 in gastric cancer tissue.
