Objective:To explore the quantitative evaluation of the change of upper airway volume by CT scan in response to nasal continuous airway pressure, and study the pathogenesis by comparing the difference of the volume variation between patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome and normal control adults.Method: (1)We choosed eight normal adults,CT evaluateded the upper airway from roof of nasopharynx to glottis under conditions of nasal continuous airway pressure of zero,4,6,8,10 and 12 cm H2O. We measured upper airway volume in response to nasal continuous airway pressure and computed the change of the upper airway volume, the difference and associativity were compared. (2)We choosed the condition of nasal continuous airway pressure of 8 cmH2O,it obviously changed upper airway volume and the subjects were fitted with this pressure. Then we repeated the same scan process in the thirty three patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome and twenty two normal adults under conditions of nasal continuous airway pressure of zero and 8 cm H2O. The change of upper airway volume of palate, uvula, lingua and epiglottis region upper airway was studied, and the difference and associativity of airway volume and the change of the volume of palate, uvula, lingua and epiglottis region upper airway were compared between patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome and normal control adults.Result:(1)There were obviously difference in the change of upper...
