Objective: Human beings change to stand and walk erectly for the reason of evolution. The two hands relax from supporting the whole weight of body to skillful actions, which leads to some morphology and structure transform. It's of great importance for anthropology, medical jurisprudence and archaeology. The purpose of this research was to know the current developmental state of hand shape of adults in Anshan City, accumulate the anthropological data on development of hand for Chinese, and provide the pragmatic and scientific morphological basis for designing and making tools and hand-defending appliances. Methods: According to the international commonly used anthropometic method, we investigated 44 items of hand shape and 4 items of body shape of morphological index of 303 (male 153, female 151) Han nationality adults in Anshan City, and we inquired into the developmental state, sex differences, differences between right and left side of the hand, area differences of the hand morphological index, and the correlationship and regression among part indices. Results: The results showed that 1.
