Analysis On The Trend And Potential Losses Of Injury Deaths In The Residents Of Taiyuan City

Objective : This paper analyses level and proportion of injury deaths of residents in Taiyuan city and further probes potential losses caused by injury deathsMethods : By the use of descriptive epidemiology—that is to calculate morality rate,standardized morality rate, death proportion and sequence ,this paper analyses cause and situation of injury deaths in accordance with surveillance of injury deaths in 2003 in Taiyuan city and by the use of health economics , this paper probes potential losses caused by injury deaths–-that is to calculate potential years of life lost (PYLL), working years of potential life lost (WYPLL),potential economic losses (PEL) and corrected value years of potential life lost(CVYPLL) ,and the proportion of these losses in total losses caused by various deaths. This paper also calculates average death age, average potential years of life lost (APYLL),average working years of potential life lost (AWYPLL), average potential economic losses (APEL) and average corrected value years of potential life lost(ACVYPLL).This paper adopted Injury and External Poison Classification in Chinese Classification of Diseases ( CCD) to classify causes of death of Taiyuan residents and standardized death data based on the census in 2000. All calculated data will be input in Excel database and be statistically analyzed by SPSS 11.5.Results : The standardized morality of injury in Taiyuan residents is 36.14/105, among which 52.77/105 are male , 17.85/105 are female .Therefore the difference is statistically significant . Morality rate is increasing with the increasing age . The rate of injury death on total morality is 7.86%.and the number of people who died reach the highest point at the age of 30-39, which has no obvious relation to season .Injury death is on the fourth of sequence of death causes .Traffic accidents ,works accidents ,poison accidents , trauma, murder are the main causes for injury .Potential life of loss caused by injury death is 13254 person- years , working years of potential life lost is 9567 person- years and corrected potential value loss is 11940 person- years ,which resulted potential economic losses of RMB 151.857 million .PYLL ,WYPLL, CVYPLL and PEL are 24.26%,32.12%,175% and 32.12% of total deaths . Average death age of injury deaths population is 41.09 .APYLL is 35.73 years . AWYPLL is 28.14 years . ACVYPLL is 31.84 years .APEL is RMB 446.7 thousand .,which result potential economic loss of RMB 15.1857 million and corrected potential economic loss of RMB.
