The Characteristic And Treatment Of Pediatric Malignant Solid Tumor: A Thirty Years Review

Objective: Through studying the clinical and follow-up data of thepediatric malignant solid tumor in our hospital during the past thirty years, to find out the characteristic of the pediatric malignant solid tumor , summarize the evolvement of diagnosis and treatment of the disease, discuss the method how to detect as soon as possible and treat the disease and to improve the patients' qualities of life.Data and Method: The clinical and follow-up data of 220 cases pediatric malignant solid tumor, treated surgically in the first affiliated hospital of Guang Xi Medical University from August, 1975 to August, 2005 were collected. Follow-up was got in 124 cases, follow-up rate was 56.4%.Pathology,sex, age, clinical character,diagnosis, treatment and prognosis were reviewed respectively. Independent-Sample T test,X2 test ,Fisher's Exact test and Kaplan-Meier were used as the statistical method and there was a "statistical" difference when a was 0.05.Results:â‘ The most frequent histological types were Wilms' tumor,neuroblastoma and malignant germ cell tumor;There was a male prevalence with a sex-ratio of 2.06;The peak incidence in embro tumor was under 3 years ,and in epithelium cancer was between the ages of ten to thirteen years.â‘¡The main symptom is touching mass and few was found in health examination.â‘¢80.6% of the pediatric malignant solid tumor were of stageâ…¢orâ…£at presentation.The stage in three times have no differences.â‘£The complete tumor resection rate was rise from 33.3% to 72.0%;the complete tumor resection of Wilms' tumor and neuroblastoma with preoperative therapy was significantly higher than those without(P<0.01) ,the two-year survival rate of Wilms' tumor with preoperative therapy was significantly higher than those without...
