Objective: To explore the effects of gastric lavage on gastricmucosa of rats with acute alcoholism in stressed and unstressedcondition. Methods: According to the factorial design principle, in thefirst stage, 96 Wistar rats were divided into four groups includingsimple stress group, alcoholism group, post-stressed alcoholism groupand control group. The rats of simple stress group and post-stressedalcoholism group were stood on the head for 8 hours, then wereinfused with 56° spirits into stomach until righting reflex of ratsdisappeared. At the same time, rats of simple stress group and controlgroup were given 0.9% normal saline of the same dose. At the secondstage, 120 Wistar rats were divided into five groups includingpost-stressed non-lavaged alcoholism group, post-stressed lavagedalcoholism group, non-lavaged alcoholism group, lavaged alcoholismgroup and control group. The rats of post-stressed non-lavaged andlavaged alcoholism groups stood on the head for 8h, rats ofnon-lavaged and lavaged alcoholism groups in stress, non-lavaged andlavaged alcoholism group were infused with 56° spirits into stomachuntil righting reflex of rats disappeared. At the same time, rats incontrol group were given 0.9% normal saline of the same dose.Gastric lavage were carried on in rats of post-stressed lavagedalcoholism group and non-stressed group, proceeding repeatly untilperfusate contained little alcoholic. Eight rats were killed for eachgroup at 2h, 24h, 48h after alcoholism respectively. Pathologicalchanges of the gastric mucosa were observed by gross appearance andoptical microscope. Gastric damages were evaluated by Lesion score(LS) under 10 times optical microscope. Results: The first stageresearch results demonstrate: (1)There are obvious statisticalsignificances among simple alcoholism group, stress group andpost-stressed alcoholism group in their lesion scores withoutconsidering the factor of time (P<0.05). (2)There exist obviousstatistical significances among three different time points in theirlesion scores without considering the different groups affecting onlesion scores (P<0.05). (3)And have interactions between differentgroups and time points. The second stage research results show: (1)There are statistical significances between post-stressed alcoholismgroup and non-lavaged alcoholism group in their lesion scores(P<0.05), and there are also statistical significance betweenalcoholism group and non-lavaged alcoholism group withoutconsidering the factor of time. (2)There exist obvious statisticalsignificances among three different time points in their lesion scoreswithout considering the factor of different groups (P<0.05). (3) Andhave interactions between different groups and time points. Conclusion: (1)The animal models of gastric mucosa lesion afteracute alcoholism have been successfully established which simulatedclinical condition that alcoholism is always caused by some kind ofstress. And the experimental rats also possess the characteristics of abio-psychological animal model. (2)It suggests that irritatingstomach with water for stressed alcoholism will aggravate the gastricmucosal lesion; On the contrary, we advocate gastric lavage to thoseof acute unstressed alcoholism for it can promotes gastric mucosalrepair. (3)Negative emotion is related to the pathogenesis ofalcoholism. The animal models of gastric mucosa lesion after acutealcoholism have been successfully established which simulatedclinical condition that alcoholism is always caused by some kind ofstress. The new research method adapts to the medical developmenttendency which changes from traditional bio-medical model tobio-psycho-social model and reflecting the new nursing concepts of"Patient care is the most important".
