Objective: With traffic industry's improve-ment,the ratio of the hyperextension injuryof the cervical spine takes place more andmore, and trauma mechanism is more complex. This paper will investigate and discuss theclinical mechanism, manifestation and theclinical outcome of different therapy methodsof the hyperextension injury of the cervicalspine. Methods:From 2000 to 2006,30 case of thehyperextension injury of the cervical spinewere analyzed in terms of the causes andmechanisms of injury, status of the spinalcord injury, the long-term therapeuticeffects of conservative and surgical trest-ments.Results: There is remarkable different elevatednumber between surgical group and conservativegroup, and there is statistics signification(P<0.05), curative effect of surgical group isbetter than conservative group. Thehyperextension injury of the cervical spinewere originated from traffic accidentfrequently, aged about 50.The therapeuticeffect of the conservative group was less thanthat of the surgical group. Conclusion:The hyperextension injury of thecervical spine can accompany many types ofspinal cord injuries.Early surgical treamentcan improve the function of spinal nervoussystem.Span-decompression maybe the mostsafe and effective method for those who couldnot be treated by traction and reduction.Whenwe make a therapy project,we should considerall kind of conditions. We should avoidchossing surgical treatment as stiff as apoker.
