Objective To study H19 gene expression transitional cell carcinoma in order to explore the relationship between the H19 gene and biological behavior of bladder cancer. Methods H19 gene expression was detected by RFLP methods and RT-PCR methods in 48 samples of bladder transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) and matched normal tissues. Results H19 was detected by restriction fragment length polymorphis (RFLP) in 48 specimens of transitional cell bladder carcinoma ,matched carcinoma tissues and in 8 normal bladder mucosa as controls. H19 was positive in 32 of 48 (66.67%), 12of 48(25.00%),0 of 8(0.00%),respectively. However, the expression level of H19 mRNA was positively related with differentiation of degree, pathological stages of tumors, recurrence and transference. (p<0.05) .Conclusion H19 gene expression was a valuable index for the prognosis of bladder transitional cell carcinoma, should be a new tumor suppressor gene.
