Objective To analyse the speciality on clinical and imaging presentation of the lateral ventricular tumors also with the effect and complications of microsurgery taken to all cases. Methods From Feb,1998 to Feb,2004, all 33 cases admitted in cerebral department had received CT and/or MRI scan before they achieved microsurgery; Results Postoperative MRI within 3 days showed that 29 cases received total resection,2 cases of subtotal resection, and 2 cases of partal resection;Follow-up for 2~72 months showed that in all total-resection cases 3 recured including 2 cases of malignant gliomas and 1 case of germinoma, which all lived well after re-operation;Sinceoperation 26 cases had obtained full recovery, 3 cases better in condition, except for death in 4 cases. By a week after operation complications had appeared in 4 cases including 2 cases of hydrocephalus,l case of extradural hematoma and 1 case of cyst in lateral ventricle. Conclusion Ages CT and MRI scan played important part in diagnosis on the property of tumor;Microsurgery could not only increase the rate of total resection of tumor but also decrease the mortality complication and the chance of recurrence.
