Studies On The Content Determination And Fingerprint Of Active Constituents From Tripterygium Wilfordii

Tripterygium wilfordii is one of traditional Chinese medicine and widely used inChina. There are three species in China, i.e., Tripterygium wilfordii Hook f.;Tripterygium hypoglaucum Hutch, Tripterygium regelii Spraque et Tak. The extractsof T. wilfordii have various activities, inculding anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor,immunosuppressive and anti-HIV activities, etc. Its preparation was used for thetreatment of rheumatoid arthritis, nephritis and other autoimmune diseases in clinical.T. wilfordii was reviewed in its distribution, application, chemical components,pharmacological function, clinical applications, etc. And also, the quality control oftraditional Chinese medicine was summarized.The method of content determination was established by chromatographicexperiments. The results showed the method was easy to operate and accurate.Content of tripterine & triptolide from Tripterygium wilfordii was determined byHPLC method. The results showed that the contents of tripterine & triptolide from T.wilfordii in different producing area and species (including their preparations)revealed a sharp difference, and this result indicated the quality control of T. wilfordiipreparations should be improved.Moreover, the Chromatographic Fingerprint of its bioactive component wasestablished by HPLC-ELSD method. The methods were stable, reliable, repeatableand specific for analysis content of 13 type of bioactive component from T. wilfordii.The remarkable bioactive constituents was identified by analysed some referencescompounds and LC-MS. The method can be applied to the quality control ofTripterygium wilfordii. In addition, as a further research, the relationship between thebioactive components group and their effects, was necessary and important.
