Objective: To investigate the expression of c-fos and c-jun protion in retina after retinal ischemia reperfusion in rats. To indentify immediately early genes had certain relationship with ischemia reperfusion.Methods: the model of retinal ischemia reperfusion was established in 60 adult SD rats by transient elevation of intraocular pressure with perfusion of normal saline into anterior chamber for 60 minutes, then their blood supply was resumed. The expression of c-fos and c-jun protein in paraffin section of retina was detected at 0h, 1h, 3h,6h, 12h,24h after 60-minute-ischemia by immunohistochemistry method.Results: The expression of c-fos and c-jun first appeared in ganglion cell layer and inner nuclear layer in lh groups(P<0.05),but not in outer nuclear layer. In 3h groups the expression of c-fos and c-jun reached to the peak(P<0.05),and then decreased gradually in 6h groups(P<0.05). In 24h groups,the expression of c-fos and c-jun arrived to normal level(P>0.05). Weak signals for c-fos and c-jun were observed in the normal group and Oh group by immunohistochemistry method. Retina full-thickness were edema in the groups of 3-6h, and nucleus arranged confusing in the nerve fiber layer, inner nuclear layer and outer nuclear layer; ganglion cell degenerated and reduced.Conclusion: the morphology of retina obviously changed after retinal ischemia reperfusion in rats and the expression of c-fos and c-jun maybe play a role in its process.
