The Other Cardiovascular Risk Factors And Their Clustering In Elderly Persons Of Impaired Glucose Tolerance

Objective:To investigate the cardiovascular risk factor and their clustering in elderly persons of impaired glucose tolerance. Method: According to 83 g oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT),131 eldly subjects were divided into normal glucose tolerance(NGT)group, impaired glucose tolerance(IGT) group,to compare the cardiovascular risk factors and their clustering, the disease incidence of cardiovascular event.Result:(1)The levels of blood-lipid were higher in subjects with IGT than those in NGT, and triglyceride,HDL cholesterol were more marked(all P<0.05). Compared with NGT group,the mean values of systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure, body mass index were significantly higher in those who with IGT(P<0.01).Fibrinogen was no difference (p>0.05) (2)Compared with NGT group,the proportion in subjects with IGT who concurrent hypertension, obesity,disturbances of lipid metabolism and ≥cardiovascular risk factor(2RFs) were significantly higher ( P<0.01).(3)The disease incidence of cardiovascular event in subjects with IGT who company with ≥2RFs were obviously higher than NGT ( P<0.05). (4) Carotid atherosclerosis indicated by intima- media thickness(IMT) were obviously higher in IGT who company with ≥2RFs.Conclusion:There were significantly risk of incident of CVD in subjects with IGT,IGT was a dependent risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD).The phenomenon of clustering of cardiovascular risk factors was found in IGT,the disease incident of CVD were obviously increased. Thus,the patients with IGT should be intervened actively.
