Objective: The purpose of this work is to study the time expression of serum SIOOB albumen in acute apoplexy patients and its relevancy to neural dysfunction and daily activity quantity (ADL). We discussed the contribution of the analysis of serum S100B albumen in TCM certificate types, nosography, curative effects evaluation and prognosis estimation, This work provide certain data for better understanding of acute apoplexy with a combination of modern TCM and molecular biology, which will contribute towards the modernization of TCM.Materials and methods: Research objects: 100 patients hospitalized from March 2003 to October 2004.Diagnosis criteria: Modern western medicine: According to the diagnosis criteria formulated in the fourth National Cerebral Vascular Disease Conference, 1995.TCM dialectical materialist criteria: According to , formulated by the acute cerebral diseases cooperative group, the National TCM bureau, 1995, and the .Exclusive criteria: AH sufferers â‘  without medical records of acute or severe cardiovascular, pulmonary, kidney diseases, tumors, acute external injuries, cerebral inflammations, cerebral traumatism and pathologicalchanges of the myelin â‘¡fall short of criteria, certificate type unclear or data missing. Patients assessment:Patients admitted were assessed with the national criteria for neural function defection, and were assessed for daily life activity with ADL.Examination of albumen S100B: intravenous blood samples were collected at the hospitalization admission, the 3rd and 7th days subsequently, the albumen S100B concentrations were examined with ELISA. Statistical analysis: variance analysis was applied to quantitative study, Pearson was applied to relevancy study.Result: Statistical analysis showed (1) the expression levels of serum albumen S100B of Zhongzangfu group are obviously higher at first and third day than those of Zhongjingluo group (P<0.01) , and both are obviously higher than those of the control group (P<0.01); (2) the concentration of serums albumen S100B showed positive correlation to the nerve function defection grading at points 3-day post onset (P<0.01) ; (3) the concentration of albumen S100B showed negative correlation to the daily life activity quantity 3-day post onset (P<0.01) ; (4) the concentrations of serum albumen SIOOB in all TCM syndromes groups are obviously higher than that of controls (P<0.01 ) , three typing groups (the wind phlegm disturbing on the mind typing group, the wet phlegm suppressing to the mind typing group and the phlegm-heat and fullness fu organ syndrome) have obviously higher serum albumen S100B expression level than the other four different syndromes (P<0.01) .Conclusion: The expression level of serum albumen S100B is increased in apoplexy patients typing in different TCM groups, especially in the Zhongzangfu or Zhongjingluo typing groups in the early onset stage (Zhongzangfu > Zhongjingluo ), which is significative to clinical diagnosisand prognosis evaluation.
