Subjects: (1)To establish a appraising system about health of the occupational workers exposed to n-hexane, some indexes about lipid peroxidation and neural function of workers was investigated. And early change of these indexes was discussed.Material and methods: (1)Exposure group:79 workers exposed continuously to n-hexane over 3 months; Control group: 78 other workers who didn't expose to n-hexane. Investigating their occupational history, smoking and drinking information, and other ordinary information by cross-sectional study. The ability of color vision in workers was determined by using a Farnsworth Munsell 100-HUE(FM100-HUE) test apparatus; Refering to kits of Nanjing Jiancheng biology research institute, the content or activity of malondialdehyde(MDA), total antioxidation capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in venous blood serum were detected; Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) kits were used to detect neuron-specific enolase(NSE) in blood serum; 8-hyroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in urine samples was detected by highperformance liquid chromatograph coupled with electrochemical detector system (HPLOEC) ; 2, 5-hexanedion(HD) in urine as a biomarker of exposing to n-hexane was detected by aether extraction gas chromatography;air n-hexane concentrations at the workplace were assessed by fixed spot sampling. Relationship between exposure to n-hexane and indexes was alsoevaluated. Results: (1)The total error score of FM100-HUE test of exposure groupshowed an significant increase comparing with control group (p<0.0001),and difference between male and female groups were not statistically significant(P=0.382); The partial error score on blue (p<0.0001) and green(P=0.002) zone of exposure group increased comparing with the control group, and the discriminations were also statistically significant; There were faint linear correlation between total error score and urine HD, and the correlation showed statistically significant (p=0.007); (2)The MDA concentration of exposure group showed an significant increase comparing with control group (P=0.048), and the T-AOC activity of exposure group showed an significan decrease comparing with control group, too(P<0. 0001); The differences of CAT and GSH-Px activity showed no statistically significant; Results on multiple linear regression showed: the influence on SOD in turn were as follows: times exposed to n-hexane>urine HD> n-hexane concentration) total smoking amount >total drinking amount>age;(3) Difference between exposed and control groups were statistically significant (P<0.0001), but it didn't between male and femal groups. (4) Means of 8-OHdG in groups with different HD concentration were increasing companioning with HD concentration up.Conclusions: (1) FM100-HUE test can be used as periodic assessment of workers exposed to n-hexane and chemically related solvents. (2)N-hexane could cause lipid peroxidation damage and increasing of NSE among exposure workers, which maybe has important function in n-hexane toxicosis.
