Abstract/Summary:
ObjectThe growth and metastasis of solid tumor depend on formation of neovascular in tumor tissue. The neovascular needs regulation of muliagency. Among these, the most important one is VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor). In the study, we plan to study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and microvessel density (MVD) in laryngeal carcinoma.Method46 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, 18 simple hyperplasia and 7 atypical hyperplasia were included in this study. Using immunohistochemistry method, the expression of VEGF and CD34 were detected.ResultsThe positive rate of VEGF and MVD were 27.78%,57.14%,71.74%;3.12±3.80,22.23 + 5.33^50.70 + 22.00, respectively in simple hyperplasia^ atypical hyperplasia and carcinoma. The difference is significant(P<0.05). The positive rate of VEGF and MVD is 93.330/t^ 61.29% and 59.93 ± 17.28 fB 46.24 ± 22.89 in largngeal carcinoma with and without lymphoid metastasis. The difference is significant. MVD were 36.33 ±24.20> 59.12 + 15.63 in laryngeal carcinoma with low and high expression of VEGF, respectively, and the difference is significant. There were no significantly difference in pathological differentiation> site> clinical stage and age.ConclusionThe expression of VEGF has closely relation to MVD in human laryneal carcinoma. VEGF can promote angiogenesis in laryngeal carcinoma and may play a very important role in invasion and metastasis of laryngeal carcinoma. VEGF and MVD can be a metastasis index in largngeal carcinoma.
