In the clinic practice of orthodontics, the analysis of the force and moment which act on the certain tooth is important. In the current studies,the FEM(Finite Element Method) was usually used to analyze the 2-D or 3-D model of the teeth.Through the analysis of the FEA(Finite Element Analysis) solutions,the researcher get certain information which coverd by the phenomenon.The commercial FEM packages were often used to finished the numeric simulation,through setting up model and applying force and constraints to the model,the FEA solver computed the FEM solution.The the stress or strain which distributed on the model can be obtained.In the past,many 2-D or 3-D FEM models which about the teeth were set up.But the analysis of the orthodontic appliance has not been given enough attention.In the thesis,the main aim is how to simulate the system of Begg archwire and brackets by use the FEM package ANSYS 7.0.The three results were acquired from this study:The first,the preferable element type and preferable element number for the FEA of the archwire system were got by using ANSYS 7.0.Secondly,Based on the first step,a method for simulation the archwire system that the molar resistance bending has been maded and the archwire was constrainted to the brackets was acquired.Then the evaluation of this method was acted.The last,the analysis of the solutions which got in the previous two steps were acted,the details for setting up the model of the archwire system were suggested.Furthermore,the discuss of the causes of the solutions were made,and some problems in the model were refered.The paper developed a GUI(Graphic User Interface) solver for a typical computation model1261 which about the archwire system.The codes were writed in Microsoft Visual Basic.net IDE(Integrated Development Environment).The codes which based on the Matlab 6.5 IDE is about simulating the archwire system that the molar resistance bending was maded and the archwire was constrainted to the brackets.
