| Shenrong Prescription for Strengthening Yang is a compound prescription which is made up of pure CM to treat impotence, which is proved in clinic.To investigate the functionary mechanism of Shenrong Prescription for Strengthening Yang to treat impotence, this study observed the following : ①the effects of new medicine on accessory sex organs growth, penile erectile function and serum testosterone content of castrated rats. ② the effect of new medicine on NO content and NOS activity in penile tissue of castrated rats. ③ the effect of new medicine on symptoms of deficiency of kidney-yang in mice reduced by hydrocortisone. ④ the effect on copulatory ability of normal mature rats. ⑤ the effect on serum estradiol content of des-ovary rats. ⑥ the effect on cGMP level in genetic organs of underage male rats.Results show that Shenrong Prescription for Strengthening Yang has the following efforts: ①To decrease atrophied degree of accessory sex organs, enhance penile erectile function and increase serum testosterone content of castrated rats. ② To increase NO content and NOS activity in penile tissue of castrated rats. ③ To increase the weight of similar-deficiency of kidney-yang mice and the weight of its adrenal gland. ④ To heighten copulatory ability of normal mature rats. ⑤ To increase serum estradiol content of des-ovary rats. ⑥ To enhance cGMP level in genetic organs of underage male rats.Conclusion: Shenrong Prescription for Strengthening Yang can strengthen sexual function.
