Setting : Hydrocephalus is a common sequela ofaneurismal subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) thatsignificantly affects patient 's out-come.Because the pathogenesis of hydrocephalusafter SAH is complex and the cinical symptom isvariable, early diagnosis and treatment is verydifficult and sometimes 1ead to poor prognosis.Inthis research we focused on the associations amongvariousfac tops and the occurrence of hydrocephalus afterSAH and try to help neurosurgeons in the earlyevaluation of this disease. Objective:Associations among various factors andthe occurence of hydrocephalus after aneurysmalsubarachnoid hemorrhage were evaluated retro-spectively in 281 patients envoi1ed in theDepartment of Neurosurgery , China-Japan unionHospital of JiLin university.Material and methods : A11 patients haveangiographic demonstration of the presence ofintracranial aneurysm and SAH was diagnosed uponCT studies. The assessment of hydrocephalus wasmade on the basis of the first and 3-week post—SAH CT scans. In 114 patients ,the patients ofventriculostomy are compared with the one of non-ventriculostomy for treatment tohydrocephalus. The time of ventricle shunt fortreating hydrocephalus is studied for. Univariateanalysis was performed to assess re1ationshipsbetween each factor and the occurrence ofhydrocephalus , those factors statisticallyassociated with the occurrence of hydrocephaluswere analyzed further using х2 regressionanalysis. Results and comment:Overall,13.3%02/281)of the28l patients developed hydrocephalus.Statis-tically significant associations among following...
