Objective: To study the clinical characteristics of hyperglycemia in patients with thalamic hemorrhage. Methods: Retrospectively, 34 thalamic hemorrhage cases with hyperglycemia are selected as objective group, 37 thalamic hemorrhage cases with nomal blood glucose are selected as contrast group. By statistics method, following targets are analyzed : the mobidity of hyperglycemia, FBG level, and their relationships with thalamic hemorrhage type and the volume of hematoma, symptoms and signs, the recovery of neural functions, complications, and also mortality. Result: the mobidity of hyperglycemia in this group is 47.9%, among them, 26 cases break into ventricular system. The incidence of hyperglycemia is much higher in patients with blood in ventricles. FBG level is higher in patients with bigger hematoma, more consciousness disorder, linguistic disability and eye-movement changes are found. the recovery of neural functions is worse, with more complications and higher mortality. Conclusion: The incidence and the level of hyperglycemia in thalamic hemorrhage are subjected to the type and the volume of the hematoma. Patients with hyperglycemia suffer from more possibility of unconsciousness, language disability, and eyeball position or movements changes. The 14-day's prognosis is also worse, the complications and the mortality rate are higher, too.
