ObjectiveIn order to find out significative key point on dorsal surface of the ankle joint that is refered to ascertain lower lib alignment during the process of total knee arthroplasty, we studied three pionts including the midpoint on dorsal surface of the ankle between lateral and medial malleoli, superficial mark point of the dorsal artery of foot as well as lateral brim of the extensor hallucis longus tendon on dorsal crease of the ankle by means of X-ray measurement and anatomical dissection. Materials and medthods1. The midpoint on dorsal surface of the ankle between lateral and medial malleoli and intersection point between the dorsal artery of foot and dorsal crease of the ankle were marked by M and A respectively on 128 cases with the average age of 43. 9 years (18—60years), without disease and deformity. In standard A-P roentgenography of CR, C'was marked as the projective point of apex of talus on dorsal crease of ankle, M'was marked as the projective point of M, A'as the projective point of A. Then measure the distance of M'and, A'and C'.When M'or A'and C'were overlapped , the distance was 0; when M'or A'and C'were lateral to C', the distance was positive; while M'or A'and C'were medial to C', the distance was negative. 2. The midpoint on dorsal surface of the ankle between lateral and medial malleoli was located respectively by kirschner pins in 24 corpses (58 parts) (17 man, 7 woman) . Firstly, measured the distance between the apex of talus and the puncture, which lied in middle of the two malleoli, and that of the puncture and the foot dorsal artery and the lateral brim of the extensor hallucis longus. Secondly, surveyed the external diameter of foot dorsal artery and the distance between the articular surface of ankle and foot dorsal artery in the line of two malleoli (superior brim of talus). Thirdly, measured the breadth of the extensor hallucis longus tendon at the level of tibiotalus line, and the distance between the medial and...
