ObjectiveAt present, glaucoma filtering surgery is important treatment of the glaucoma in clinic. But main failure in GFS is the ruin of blood - aqueous barriea and reaction around operation area, which there are a great deal fibrous cells, these result in the scar around filtering area. After performed the release drug membrane resisting scar implantion in rabbits , we investigated the efficacy and security of the release drug membrane resisting scar through observed intraocular pressure and the number of fibrous cell.Materials and MethodsThe membrane sustained and controlled release drug delivery was made of chitin. In glaucoma operation in ocular hypertension rabbit, there were six different treatment methods: ( 1) release membrane without drug ; ( 2 ) release drug membrane with 0. 77mg dexamethasones; (3) release drug membrane with 1. 7mg dexamethasones; (4) release drug membrane with 2. 5mg dexamethasones; (5)droping 0.25% dexamethasone ocule water after filtration surgery; (6)no release dug membrane and no drug resisting the scar during the operation and after the operation. Release drug membrane was implanted under conjunctiva a-round filtering area. Study animals were killed on first week, second week, forth week after filtering surgery. Observe fibroma number through the light microscope.Resultsthe rabbit' s conjunctivas were congest, corneas were lucency . there were not any syndromes in rabbits. Ocolar tensions were normol. Light microscope revealed that sclera fibrous tissue in normal contrasted group I were regular, there were a little fibrous cells, cell volumes were small.First week after operation, the number of fibroma in the expriment group IE NIV was lower than the contrasted group II. Second week and forth week after operation, the number of fibroma in the expriment group HI ? IV was lower than the contrasted group II , and there were statistics meaning.Conclusions(1 ) Implantation of released drug membrane may be used to resist the growth of scar tissue after GFS in rabbats and concerned with drug density.(2)0.25% dexemethion ocule water is inferior to membrane sustained and controlled reseal drug delivery in resisting the growth of scar tissue.
