Objective: To study whether the thymidine phosphotylase (TP) is expressed ongastrict cancer cells and investigate whether the X-rayirradiation and TNF-acan induce gastric cancer cells to express highly the TP.Methods: The BGC-823 gastric cancer cells were treated with X-ray irradiationat different dosage (0GY, 1GY, 5GY, 10GY, 20GY, 30GY) in vitro, and werecollected after 12 hours. The BGC-823 gastric cancer cells were treated with30GY of X-ray irradiation and were collected after 1h, 3h, 6h, 12h and 24h. TheTNF-a was added in culture medium and make final concentration as 10ng/mland the were collected after 3h, 6h, 12h and 24h. Cytoplasmal proteins wereextracted and the expressin of TP was detected by using western blottingmethod. Results: Using the western blotting, it was negtive that the expression of TP onthe BGC-823 gastric cancer cells cultured normal and induced by the X-rayirradiation and TNF-α.Conclusion: The increased expression of TP in gastric cancer tissues had nodirectly correlation with gastric cancer cells that may be cause by theup-regulated expression of TP of mesenchymomal cells in gastric cancer tissue. The TP not only is not expressed on the gastric cancer cells but on the gastriccancer cells induced by X- rayirradiation and TNF-α.
