In this thesis, a series of novel C10 higher carbon sugar nucleosides, xylofuranose sugar nucleosides and higher carbon amino sugar derivatives were designed and stereoselectively synthesized. The activity experiments of these novel compounds have been tested. Some of these compounds show good biological activities.After an extensive literature on these subjects was read, our work was carried out as follows.1. C10 higher carbon sugars (2,3,4) and 1,2,3,5-O-tetra-acetyl-α-D-xylofuranose(5), l,2,3,5-O-tetra-benzoyl-α-D-xylofuranose(6) were synthesized from α-D-xylose.2. Three xylofuranose sugar nucleosides and six C10 higher carbon sugar nucleosides were synthesized from comounds 5, 6, 4 and were characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR,13C NMR, MS and IR spectra.3. Two series of novel C10 higher carbon amino sugar derivatives were synthesized for the first time. Treatment of higher carbon sugars 2 and 3 with various substituted anilines followed by stereoselective reduction with NaBH4 provided 32 novel higher carbon amino sugar derivatives. The structures of these higher carbon amino sugars were elucidated by means of 1H NMR, 13C NMR, DR. and Elemental analysis, spectral analysis was discussed at the same time.In conclusion, 9 new nucleoside analogues and 32 higher carbon amino sugars were designed and synthesized, some of these compounds show good anti-tumoractivities and glycosidase inhibitor activities.
