"Vessel Pricking Therapy" (also known as Bloodletting Therapy) is one of the traditional acupuncture methods. The basis of this therapy was founded by "The Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine" and number of specialists studied and developed this therapy afterwards."Vessel Pricking Therapy" developed in Japan as well as in China. Japanese style "Vessel Pricking Therapy" was mainly influenced by China but it also adopted western medicine, especially the Dutch medicine in the Edo period.The former part of this thesis describes the theory and characteristics of Japanese and Chinese style "Vessel Pricking Therapy".The latter part draws a comparison between Japanese and Chinese style, and considers an integrated approach of "Vessel Pricking Therapy" from beneficial characteristics of both. Finally clinical case by Prof. Liu Gongwang (Tianjin Univ. of TCM) are shown.
