Studies On Constituents Of Semen Cassiae Sophera And Its Pharmacological Activities

Semen Cassiae Sophera is the seed of Cassia sophera L., which is one kind of Leguminosae Lathyrus. recorded by Great Chinese Pharmaceutical Glossary. This plant is widely used in Chinese folk medicine with various pharmacological properties. Recent studies demonstrated that Semen Cassiae Sophera had a unique therapeutic effectiveness in treating diabetics. The purpose of this paper, therefore, were to study its chemical consitutuents and bioactivities and R&D a new drug which is more effectively against diabetics with Semen Cassiae Sophera. 1. In this paper, the researched actualities and developments of medicine about diabetes were reviewed, and the dietary fiber's therapy on diabetes was also discussed. 2. The chemical constituents of Semen Cassiae Sophera were studies by means of physical and chemical methods such as resin absorption technique, chromatography, extraction, recrystallizing et al., eight monomer compounds had been isolated, and five of their structures were established on the basis of chemical and spectral (13C-NMR,1H-NMR,HMBC,HMQC ,DEPT) evidences. They are Cassia-sophera saponin-F1 ( â… ),Cassia-sophera triterpenoide A ( â…¡)Cassia-sophera saponin B(â…¢),Emodinmono methyl ether(â…£)and Chrysophanol (â…¤) respectively.
