Management Of Brainstem Hematomas By Stereotactic Approach Evacuation Therapy

Objective To explore stereotactic approach evacuation therapy for hypertensive brainstem hematomas. Methods CT-guided stereotactics suboccipital-subtransversarium appr-oach evacuation was used in 13 cases with brainstem hemat-oma,male 8 and female 5,aged from 28-69(average47.6),Mi-dbrain 4,pontine 8,medulla 1.The length between the occur-rednce of hematomas and the surgical treatment varied from 3 to 48 hrs. Results:With 3-36 months follow-up,4 died and 9 survivcd.Conclusion CT-Guided stereotactic approach evacuation therapy is feasible and effective in treating severe brainstem hematomas.
