Objective: To investigate the expression of UroplakinIII, CK7and MUC2 protein in cystitis glandularis tissue , in order to find out t the etiology of cystitis glandularis and try to clarify the mechanism, methods: To investigate the expression of UroplakinIII, CK7and MUC2 protein in 57 cases of cystitis glandularis and 8 cases normal bladder mucosa tissue and 8 cases bladder tumor tissue by immunohistochemistry, and analyzed the results by statistical analysis. Results: The percentage of the UroplakinIII-positive tissue in cystitis glandularis group was higher than the normal group and tumor group. The percentage of the CK7-positive in cystitis glandularis group was significantly higher than the others groups. The percentage of the MUC2-positive in cystitis glandularis group was significantly higher than the normal group and tumor group, and MUC2 expression in normal group and tumor group was negative. Conclusion: the tissue of cystitis glandularis mainly origined from urinary tract transitional epithelium. The primary etiological factor included bacterial cystitis, calculus and obstructive factor. The residual intestinal gland during the embryonic stage in bladder was another important etiological factor.
