Edometriosis (EMS) is a common gynecologic disease, the incidence rate is increased per year gradually, and become the hot spot of gynecology in recent years. The mechanism of pathogenesis is not clear to this day, but attachment, aggression, angiogenesis has become the generally accepted "AAA "program of the implantation and grow of endometrium. Cell adhesion molecule has a closely relationship with this procedure, it is the glycoportein of the cell membrane, including immunoglobulin super family, integrin family, selectin family, cadherin family et al.We studied the distribution and expression of this gene in eutopic and ectopic of endometriosis as well as eutopic of endometrium to investigate the etiology of integrin alpha 6 in the process of endometriosis. Methods: RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, western-blot and flow cytometry were employed to assay the expression of integrin alpha 6 in eutopic endometrium from patients with or without endometriosis and ectopic endometrium obtained at laparotomy from ovarian systs tissues of endometriosis. Results: The expression of Integrin a6 subunit in proliferative phase and secretive phase has no statistical distinguish in the patients with or without endometriosis, and whereas the expression of Integrin α6 subunit was down-regulated in the ectopic endometrium compared with the eutopic counterpart. Conclusion: The pathogenesis of endometriosis involves complex regulation of both functions and expression of integrins. The data likely contribute to the origin of endometriosis and uncover unknown mechanisms underlying implantation failure in women with endometriosis.
