Objective:In rats model of spinal cord injury,to observe the effect of estrogen on MEP and hindlimb motor function in different time after spinal cord injury.Method:36 healthy rats were chosen and their body weight varied from 250 gram to 310 gram.The rats were divided into two groups randomly:controlled group(18) and estrogen group(18)The model rats were made during two periods.(l) Fabrication of castrated rats model,to ligate two sides of fallopian tube and excise two sides of castrated ovaries,castrated model rats were made. 30 days later after operation,the models of estrogen group were injected estrovite (100μg/ kg) for 7 days.The model of controlled group were made ,which were used same method.but injected NS(0.5ml/d) for 7 days.(2) All of spinal cord injury model rats were established with ALLEN bump equipment(25gcm)The models of estrogen group were injected estrovite(100μg / kg) every day until they were sacrificed.The models of controlled group were injected NS(0.5ml/d) every day until they were sacrificed.To inspect MEP of spinal cord: before spinal cord injury,after spinal cord injury lh,5h,8h,ld,3d,5d,we inspected MEP.Fabrication of tissue section: after spinal cord injury ld,3d,5d,8d,14d,21d,we sacrificed rats in batch. 4% formaldehydum polymerisatum was pured into the cardiac cavity and fixed for 24h.Then obtain the specimen of spinal cord from T5 to T13.Establishing slices and HE dyeing.Before sacrifice.we detected Gale grading score and tiltboard experiment.Results:The change of MEP at 5h after SCI,the amplitude of MEP reduced summit and incubation prolonged summit. Change in estrogen group is less than that in controlled group (P<0.01) The change of hindlimb motor function after spinal cord injury:There is no significant difference between estrogen group and controlled group ( P>0.05) .Conclusion:From the experiment,we prove that estrogen can accelerate undee reversion of MEP and so we proved furtherly that estrogen can lessen secondary spinal cord injury,promote functional recovery. Therefore,during early time of spnal cord injury,we make use of estrogen with other medicine,it can lessen spinal cord injury and provide a new method for treatment of SCI.
